I don't watch American Idol. So, when someone told me I had to checkout Daughtry and he used to be on the show, I thought to myself "this is going to be garbage". But then something happened which made me think "Wow – I have to check this guy out". The band Fuel offered Chris Daughtry the spot to be their new lead singer, but he turned it down.

Chris got a band together and went on to record and release a self-titled album. The first track "It's Not Over" is one of the many rocking tunes on the album. My favorite is "All These Lives", with other favorites being "What I Want" and "Breakdown". Former Guns N Roses now Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash contributing an amazing guitar work on the track "What I Want".

My only complaint about this album is that I believe it lacks an identity. There songs I talked about above that completely rocked out are amazing rock and hard rock tracks. But Chris must be having an identity crisis cause I feel he goes pop rock or even totally pop on the 2nd through 4th tracks on the album and ends the album with what I believe to be the weakest song, "What About Now". The last track even sounds like it has a bit of country in it. What the heck?

I do think you should checkout the album though - but get it off of iTunes. You get the bonus track "Sorry", which I think is a fantastic track and would have really brought up. It should have made the 12-track cut and should have replaced one of the other poppy tunes.
