Overall Grade: 4.08 (out of 5)

Sophomore slump? Not for Three Days Grace. One-X was the best sophomore album by any band in 2006, and one of the best sophomore albums in recent memory. In my opinion, the newest album from Three Days Grace is better than the band's debut album.

With big hits like "Animal I Have Become" and "Pain" already blowing up the airwaves, who knows what the next single off the album will be – the good thing is, the guys certainly have plenty of great options to choose from. Besides the classic hard rockin' tunes you'd expect from 3DG, the band successfully experiments with new sounds. For example, take the "choir-like vocals" at the ending of "One X". Or the "muffled vox sound" for "Pain" or the layered-like vocals during the verses in "Let It Die". It also seems that lead singer Adam Gontier just matured lyrically, and that fits great into the experimenting of new sounds and the maturity of the band as a whole musically.

This album is great to hear anywhere. For one, all the songs come across great live so you know your not getting one thing on the album and another thing at a show [check out my concert review on Three Days Grace].  But besides live, this is an album you can toss in and sit back and enjoy while you are just sitting on your couch in your living room or you can blare it in your car with the windows down and the air blowing in your face.  I suggest you go out and buy this album now – it will be money well spent and you will not be disappointed at all.
